Bangladesh National Football team defeated Bhutan National Football team by one goal to nil in their first FIFA International friendly match on Thursday last at Changlimithang Stadium in Thimpu, the capital city of Bhutan. Thanks to youngster forward Morsalin, who scored the all-important goal for Bangladesh.
Earlier, Bangladesh lost to Bhutan 1-3 goals in their play-off match of the AFC Asian Cup Qualifiers in Thimpu on 10th October in 2016 . Thus, Bangladesh failed to reach the next round of that tournament. Besides, according to the latest FIFA rankings, Bhutan have taken the 182nd position, while Bangladesh have taken 184th position. So, Morsalin’s goal has earned south breeze for Bangladesh’s football.
Morsalin was admitted in the football discipline of Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) in 2016. In that year, Bangladesh lost to Bhutan.
Morsalin said, ” The Asian Cup qualifiers is knocking at the door. I want to score in that tournament. Besides, if I get chance to play for Bangladesh I shall try to score against stronger opponents. When I was a student of BKSP I heard the disastrous result of Bangladesh against Bhutan. In that time I was a teenager. This time all of us try to come out from that tragedy in Thimpu.”
Bangladesh could not show a satisfactory match against Bhutan on Thursday, though Bangladesh earned a victory. After debut in the international football for senior team of Bangladesh last year Morsalin scored five goals playing 12 matches. That means as a scorer his success almost 50%.
Morsalin used to get chance to play competitive matches for Bangladesh National Football team but he is not a regular player of Bashundhara Kings. Foreign recruits used to play in forward position. Thus, Morsalin did not get chance to play for Bashundhara Kings regularly. If he gets chance to play, he can play for maximum 10 to 20 minutes. So, he could get chance to score seldom.
Morsalin said, ” I am grateful to our Head Coach Javier Cabrera and the other teammates. But I am specially thankful to Rakib Bhai and Fahim Bhai. I have a good understanding with them.”
Ashrafuddin Chunnu is the highest scorer for Bangladesh National Football team. He scored 17 goals playing 50 matches.
The 20-year-old forward said, ” I know that Chunnu Bhai is the highest scorer. I shall try to cross him. But it is not an easy matter. I have to keep my form and I am seeking the favour of my fate. I want to play for Bangladesh for a long time. If I can do that I shall score and also assist to score.”
