More administrators to manage Benazir’s assets

A Dhaka court has appointed additional administrators to oversee the confiscated immovable properties of former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Benazir Ahmed and his family members.

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Director of the Property Management Unit will manage the properties located in Dhaka and Rupganj, while the Deputy Commissioner of Bandarban will oversee the land properties in that district. This order was passed by Judge Mohammed Ash-Shams Joglul Hossain of the Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Court of Dhaka, following a petition submitted by ACC Deputy Director Md Hafizul Islam, according to ACC lawyer Mahmud Hossain Jahangir.

The confiscated properties include 24 kathas of land in Rupganj, Narayanganj district; three kathas of land in the capital’s Gulshan area; two flats measuring 3,075 square feet in Badda; six flats in Adabor; and 25 acres of land in Bandarban district.

Previously, on June 6, the same court had appointed administrators to manage some of the immovable properties belonging to Benazir and his family members. According to that court order, the Upazila Nirbahi Officer was tasked with overseeing the properties in Savar, while the Deputy Commissioners in Cox’s Bazar and Madaripur were appointed to manage properties in their respective districts.
