Bangladesh reported 35 more deaths from the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours which bringing the toll of fatalities to 781.
A total of 2,423 people detected Covid-19 positive during the same period which take to the number of infection from the virus to 57,563, said Professor Dr. Nasima Sultana, Additional Director General of the Directorate General of the Health Services (DGHS) in a press briefing on Thursday.
Dr. Sultana said, the recovery count also increased to 12,161 after another 571 patients were released from different hospitals across the country in the same period.
The DGHS official said that total 12,694 samples were tested at 50 authorised laboratories across the country during that time.
She said that 19.09 percent of the tested specimen were found coronaviurs positive.
The rate of recovery from the disease in Bangladesh currently stands at 21.13 percent and the mortality rate is 1.36 percent, the DGHS official added.
Bangladesh reported the first infection of the virus on March 8 and it declared the first death from Covid-19 on March 18.
