Putting emphasis on making the people aware about the ongoing land digitization programme, land adviser A F Hassan Ariff on Sunday urged the divisional commissioners to work sincerely in ensuring transparent, accountable and citizen-friendly land management at the field level.
The adviser made the call at a coordination meeting with divisional commissioners at his ministry’s meeting room, reports BSS.
Ariff asked divisional commissioners to strict supervise and coordinate the daily activities of the officials and employees of the land department at local level.
He said most people have limited knowledge about the land related services.
Service aspirants should be made widely aware of the ongoing digitization programme of the government including online registration, holding number, land tax and filing procedures, he added.
Ariff laid emphasize on continuing the regular training programmes for the field level land officers and employees.
Senior secretary of the ministry ASM Saleh Ahmed and senior officials were present at the meeting.
Earlier, Bangladesh’s interim government land adviser AF Hassan Ariff on Monday said a circular would be issued to implement strict measures to prevent corruption at land offices at the field level.
‘We will issue a circular so that the secretary and high-ranking officials concerned can take direct legal action if anyone in the land office gets involved in corruption-related matters or engages in discussions on such topics, violating the law and order,’ he said. The land adviser came up with the warning while speaking at a seminar titled ‘Media’s role in people-friendly land services’, held in Dhaka, as a chief guest.
The stage at which the land ministry currently stands- regarding issues like record of land revenue, khatian, payment of land records and mutation-has not been widely communicated to the public and people are still facing difficulties, he said. Referring to the allegations brought against the land offices, Hassan Ariff, said the office is under the law ministry.
Mentioning delay in the cases under the Land Appeal Board, the land adviser said, ‘The reason is that everyone has to come physically to attend.
