Md. Mojahidul Islam has been honored with the ICT Journalist of the Year 2020 award for his significant contributions to the nation’s digital advancement. Finance Minister Mustafa Kamal appreciated Mojahidul’s various reports and feature stories highlighting Bangladesh’s progress in ICT.
The award was presented by Mustafa Jabbar, Minister of Posts and Telecommunications, during the closing ceremony of the Digital Bangladesh Mela 2020 on Saturday. Mojahidul was recognized for his exceptional reporting on the promotion of ICT as a catalyst for social transformation.
A three-day expo was held in Dhaka from January 16-18, 2020, showcasing the country’s advancements in digitization and demonstrating next-generation 5G internet technology. Organized by the Posts and Telecommunications Division, the event featured various IT and ITES products and services, including a 5G demonstration by Huawei.
During the event, Minister Jabbar emphasized the importance of quality journalism, stating that the next generation of young journalists must take responsibility for delivering impactful reporting and thorough news investigations. “Journalists, news readers, and media house owners must focus on specific, emphatic, and concise journalism to ensure a sustainable media industry,” he said.
Former Chief Information Commissioner Golam Rahman announced the names of the winners.
In response to receiving the award, Mojahidul expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am delighted to receive this award. I consider it a recognition of my efforts in writing about technology adoption to promote financial inclusion in the country.”
