Mohammedan Sporting Club clinched a dominant 94-run victory over Legends of Rupganj in the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) at Mirpur’s Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Saturday.
Chasing 254, Rupganj’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure, folding for just 159.
Despite a promising start with an 8-wicket win in the previous match against Prime Bank Cricket Club, Rupganj’s top order failed to deliver this time.
Tanzid Hasan (11), Soumya Sarkar (0), and Saif Hasan (11) all fell cheaply. The middle order, including Afif Hossain (14) and captain Akbar Ali (4), also struggled.
A brief resistance came from Jaker Ali (25) and Sheikh Mehedi (43), but Mohammedan’s Mehidy Hasan Miraz (4/30) and Taskin Ahmed (3/35) dismantled the batting lineup
Earlier, Mohammedan posted 253/9, powered by Towhid Hridoy’s 66 and contributions from Ronny Talukdar (36) and Mahidul Islam Ankon (42). Shariful Islam starred with the ball for Rupganj, claiming 4/54.
Despite their bowlers’ efforts, Rupganj’s poor batting display ensured a comfortable win for Mohammedan.
In the other match Abahani Limited continued their strong campaign with an 80-run victory over Brothers Union at BKSP. After a shaky start, Mominul Haque’s superb 92 off 74 balls, featuring 7 fours and 4 sixes, steadied the innings. His 143-run stand with Mohammad Mithun (71 off 86) helped Abahani post an imposing 310 for 8.
