Mohammedan draw with Kings in Fed Cup Football
Sports Reporter :
There was only one match in the Federation Cup Football on Tuesday. Neither team won the match between Bashundhara Kings and Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited at Shaheed Dhirendranath Dutta Stadium in Cumilla. The game ended in a goalless draw.
Both Mohammedan and Bashundhara Kings had multiple scoring opportunities. Bashundhara Kings also sent the ball into Mohammedan’s net in the first half of the match. In the 45th minute, Rakib Hossain scored a goal from a placed ball from Faisal Ahmed Fahim from the left wing.
When Rakib touched the ball, he was standing in front of Mohammedan’s defenders, so the assistant referee raised the offside flag.
Kings’ Brazilian forward Dorielton did not play yesterday. His absence had a big impact on the field. Kings attacked a lot, but their finishing was weak. Kings did not score a goal despite several coordinated attacks in the second half. Mohammedan goalkeeper Sujan also had the credit for this.
Mohammedan missed the easiest chance of the match. After the scheduled 90 minutes, the fourth referee showed 6 minutes of injury time. In the injury time, Rahim Uddin entered the Kings box alone with the ball on the counter-attack.
lthough he was in a position to take a shot, he extended the ball to teammate Samuel Boateng. Boateng could not catch the ball. Kings defender Tapu Barman cleared the ball.
In Tuesday’s draw, Mohammedan is in second place in Group-B with 5 points from 3 matches. Forties also have 5 points. They are at the top due to their lead in goal difference. Bashundhara Kings are in fourth place in the table with two points from two matches.
The other two teams in Group B, Bangladesh Police Football Club are third with 3 points from two matches and Arambagh are at the bottom with naught from two matches. The top two teams in the group will play in the next round.
