MK Anwar indicted in ICT Act
Court Correspondent :The Senior Special Judge Court of Dhaka yesterday (Monday) framed charges against BNP Standing Committee member MK Anwar in a case filed under the Information and Communication Technology Act for allegedly instigating communal forces.Judge Md Jahurul Haque of the court also fixed November 23 for hearing of the case with the deposition of witnesses.The case record says that at a press briefing on May 6, 2013 BNP leader MK Anwar said that the activists of Swechchhasebak League led by Debashish Biswas torched some copies of the holy Quran in front of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on May 5 during the alleged mayhem created by the Hefajat-e-Islam.Md Nasir Uddin, Sub-Inspector of Paltan Police Station, lodged a general diary with Paltan Police Station on May 8 on charge of instigating communal forces. After investigation, police submitted charge sheet against MK Anwar on July 23, 2013.On May 7, 2013, Swechchhasebak League leader Debashish Biswas also filed a case against the BNP leader with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka.
