Two more suspects have been arrested in connection with the brutal murder of scrap metal trader Mohammed Shohag near Mitford Hospital in Dhaka.
In the early hours of Sunday (July 13), a special team from the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) arrested two brothers—Sajib and Rajib—from Netrakona, acting on a tip-off.
DB Joint Commissioner (North) Rabiul Islam Bhuiyan confirmed the arrests and said the suspects were later handed over to the DC of the Lalbagh Division for further interrogation.
With these arrests, the total number of people held in the case has risen to seven—five apprehended by police and two by Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).
Shohag, 39, was hacked and beaten to death in broad daylight at the Mitford Hospital gate on Wednesday, July 9. His elder sister later filed a murder case with the Kotwali Police Station.
