Thakurgaon Correspondent:

Police have recovered the body of Rimu Akter, a 22-year-old pregnant woman who had been missing for seven days, from a toilet in the Khatshinga Shibrambati area of Pirganj upazila in Thakurgaon.

Rimu, who was five months pregnant, was the wife of Delwar Hossain from the Ekannapur Laxminder Hat area under Hajipur Union. Her body was found on Monday afternoon at the residence of a man named Sumon, a local welding mechanic.

Rimu’s father, Ikramul Haque, said his daughter had gone missing a week ago. Despite repeatedly asking Delwar about her whereabouts, his answers were inconsistent and suspicious. “He kept changing his statements,” Ikramul said.

After lodging a complaint with the police, Delwar was taken into custody. During interrogation, he reportedly confessed to murdering Rimu and hiding her body. Acting on his information, police recovered the body wrapped and concealed inside the toilet of Sumon’s house.

Pirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tajul Islam confirmed the recovery was made in the presence of Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Rakibul Hasan.

OC Tajul Islam added that police are continuing their investigation to determine whether others were involved in the murder.
