Miscreants kill horse in Kishoreganj

Manu Miah , (70), a residence in Algapara village under Joysiddhi union in Itna haor upazila of Kishoreganj. Miscreants brutally killed his companion horse ‘Bahadur ‘ on the way, taking advantage of his illness.
As soon as he hears the news of someone’s death, he rushes to the graveyard with all the necessary equipment including a spade and a spade. He has been digging graves like this for 50 years without any payment. According to the diary of 70-year-old Manu Mia, he has dug 3,057 graves so far.
A few years ago, Manu Miah sold his rice fields and bought a horse to speed up his long journey to dig a grave. Since then, the horse has become his legs, his driving force. Overcome by illness, Manu Miah was admitted to a hospital in the Capital on May 14. The childless man is undergoing treatment there in a seemingly terminal condition. His wife Rahima Begum is by his side.
On Friday morning, locals found the body of Manu Miah’s horse lying in water next to a madrasa in Hashimpur Chhatris village of Mithamoin upazila. The horse had been hit in the chest by a sharp weapon. Considering Manu Miah’s physical and mental condition, who is undergoing treatment in the hospital, his wife and relatives kept the killing of the horse a secret from him.
Manu Miah’s wife Rahima Begum said that, her husband (Manu Miah’s) condition is not good. He has never harmed anyone in his life. I knew for a long time that people loved him. How could people kill his beloved horse in such a bad condition? If we tell him the news, he will not be able to bear it.”
The local residents saids, it is known that Manu Miah has a reputation as a skilled grave digger in the remote haor Upazila Itna, Mithamoin, Austagram Shalla, Ajmiriganj and nearby areas. Apart from this, he has a reputation in various parts of the country including the capital’s Banani graveyard. Manu Miah does not stop at just digging graves. He writes down the dates of death of all the graves he has dug so far in his diary.
No one could have imagined that Manu Miah’s beloved horse would be killed like this during her time of crisis. Manu Mia’s neighbor SM Rizon said, Manu Mia has worked selflessly for people all her life. In her absence, miscreants killed her beloved horse like this. This is a very condemnable act. This crime should be brought to justice.
In this regard, Acting Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukit Sarkar, said that the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mithamoin Police Station has been instructed to take legal action in this regard. Necessary legal action will be taken as soon as the complaint is received.
