BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir left Dhaka for London, UK on Saturday morning on a 10-day visit. During his stay there, the BNP secretary general will meet the party’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.
Mirza Fakhrul along with his wife Rahat Ara Begum, departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Dhaka on a Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at 8:25am.
BNP chairperson’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan confirmed it.
Sayrul Kabir said the BNP leader is expected to return home on December 11.
Party insiders said Mirza Fakhrul is travelling to London to meet party Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman to discuss political and party matters.
Once Mirza Fakhrul returns, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia may travel to London for medical treatment.
The 79-year-old former Prime Minister is likely to first receive treatment in the UK, and then may travel to the United States for advanced medical treatment.
