Minister suspicious over need of flyovers

Minister for Homing and Public Works Engr. Mosharraf Hossein expressed suspicion over the necessity of s.0 KM long flyover from Mumdpur Lalkhan Bazar which is under implementation in the part city.Minister Engr Mosharaf Hossein was addressing an open discussion meet on’ Development of Chittagong City & Mitigation of traffic Congestion’ held at Engineer’s Institute Hall here on Saturday evening as Chief GuestBangabandhu Prokaushuli Parishad arranged the discussion meeting. Works Minister said the presentations of Engr. Subash Buena clarifies the necessity of flyover and mitigation of traffic congestion in the port city already mentioned in the presensattions instead of flyover. Vim President of Chittagong forum and city Planner Engr Subash Barua and Engr. Ali Ashraf presented the keynote Paners in the open discussions. The keynote paper also indicates the statistics of traffic movement from No.0 gate to GEC crossing and in such a situation of traffic movement in this section, there is no need any flyover , he added. The keynote paper was told that if the traffic management is organized with proper way, the traffic congestion will be mitigated to maximum extents.Engr.AliAshraf said inthe master plan of Chittagong city , there were provisions of outer circular road, link roads, marine drive roads em but no provisions of flyovers there. He requested the Minister the ascertain the traffic movement where these flyovers are being built whereas millions of money is being spew in constructing the flyoversIn the meantime, city watchdogChittagong Development Authority has taken initiatives to construct 5.z KM long flyover from Muradpm to LaIldian Bazar. President of Bangabhandu Prokaushuli Parishad ME Maroon presided over it with its General Secretary Md. Sadeque as moderator.Among others, Vice chancellor of Chittagong University Prof. Anowarul Azim Atif, CDA Chairman Abdus Salam, Chamber President Mahbubul Alam, Editor of Dein& Purbokone Taslimuddin , Managing Director of CWASA AKM Faziunah, Deputy police commissioner Faruk Ahmed, President of Ctg IEB cents Mamare Khorshed Alam, chief planner of CDA Shahinool Islam Khan, city planner AIN Rea.
