ASHA-Chattagram Division is currently providing loan services to 323,000 members through 157 branches in the current fiscal year. The total loan balance in this sector is Tk 1,547 crore. A target of Tk 3,000 crore loan disbursement has been set for the fiscal year 2025-26.
Senior Additional Divisional Manager of ASHA Chattagram Division Md. Saidul Islam Chowdhury shared this information with journalists at a view-exchange meeting on ASHA’s overall activities at a hotel in the city on Monday. Regarding ASHA’s ongoing activities, Md Saidul Islam Chowdhury said that a total of Tk 3,350,000 has been paid to 670 members against their insurance claims.
In addition, 670 members have been provided with Tk 5,000 each for the burial and shrouding of deceased members, a total of Tk 3,350,000. 176 members were provided with Tk 7,44,000 as medical assistance.
In addition, 65 people have been given a one-time retirement allowance of 9 lakh 75 thousand taka. Highlighting the education program, Md. Ariful Islam, Education Officer of ASHA’s Chattagram District, said, ASHA is working to reduce the dropout rate of students studying in primary and secondary schools. In the Chattagram division, the ‘ASHA Primary Education Strengthening Program’ is being conducted with 24 thousand 108 students in 880 centers in the education sector.
The meeting was chaired by ASHA-Chattagram Divisional Manager MM Nafiz Mahmud, and moderated by ASHA-Chattagram Divisional Manager Md. Nazrul Islam, Additional Divisional Manager of ASHA-Chattagram Division, Director of the Department of Social Services, Chattagram Divisional Office, Mohammad Minhazur Rahman, Assistant Director Md. Abul Kashem and Resident Editor of Daily Amar Deshre, Jahedul Karim Kochi, spoke at the exchange of views.
