Mild heat wave sweeps parts of country

A mild heat wave is currently affecting several districts across Bangladesh and is expected to persist, according to a bulletin from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) issued Friday morning.

The heat wave is sweeping through the districts of Faridpur, Rajshahi, Ishwardi, Khulna, Jashore, and Chuadanga, and the BMD has indicated that this weather pattern may continue for some time.

In addition, the forecast predicts rain or thundershowers with temporary gusty or squally winds at one or two locations in the Sylhet division. Elsewhere, the weather is expected to remain dry with a partly cloudy sky.

Day and night temperatures across the country are expected to remain largely unchanged, the bulletin added.

The highest temperature recorded on Thursday was 37.0 degrees Celsius, observed simultaneously in Jashore and Chuadanga districts in the Khulna division.

The lowest temperature recorded this morning was 17.0 degrees Celsius in Dimla upazila, Nilphamari district, under the Rangpur division.
