‘The annual Milad Mahfil was held at Alauddin Ahmed Chowdhury Nasim College, one of the northern schools in Feni, at the college auditorium on Monday.
Milad and prayers were held under the chairmanship of the college principal Captain (retd) Mohammad Didarul Alam and conducted by Bengali subject lecturer Shabirul Islam.
Former director of Bangladesh Rural Development Academy (BARD) Maulana Abdul Quader, Feni district correspondent of The New Nation and Dainik Janabani Shahabuddin Ahmed Liton and Maulana Abdul Bari were present as the main discussants.
Lecturer of Physics Fazlul Karim Samrat and convener of the annual Milad management committee and lecturer of Sociology Abdul Malek spoke from among the teachers.
Annual Milad Steering Committee members Zahirul Islam Raju, Lecturer in Production and Marketing, and Ibrahim Hossain, Lecturer in Islamic History and Culture, along with all teachers and students, were present.
The programme began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. Later, prizes were given to the students who secured first, second and third places among the competitors participating in 6 events including Quran recitation, Hamd-Naat and essay competition.
In the president’s speech, Principal Captain (Retd.) Mohammad Didarul Alam said, “Religious and moral education plays an important role in shaping the character of a student. It is our hope that through this event, students will be enriched in human values.”
Chief discussant Maulana Abdul Quader said, “Milad Mahfil calls people to the path of peace, harmony and morality. Only if the young generation can embrace these values, society will be more enlightened.”
At the end, special prayers and supplications were offered, seeking peace for the college founder’s family, the country, the nation, and the entire Muslim Ummah.
