Authorities have designated a metro rail coach to assist in transporting victims injured in the Bangladesh Air Force training aircraft crash at Milestone School and College in Dhaka’s Diabari area.
According to the Police Headquarters, the coach adjacent to the women’s compartment will be used to carry injured individuals affected by the incident.
More than 50 students have already been admitted to hospitals, including the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery. Doctors say most of the victims sustained burn injuries.
The F-7 BGI training jet crashed around 1:06pm on Monday, shortly after takeoff, said the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The aircraft erupted into flames upon impact, sending thick black smoke billowing into the sky. Eight units of the Fire Service rushed to the scene to douse the fire.
Lima Khanam, duty officer at the Fire Service Central Control Room, confirmed: “The aircraft crashed into Milestone School and College in Diabari. Our team has recovered one body so far. The Air Force rescued four injured persons and took them for treatment.”
So far, two deaths have been reported. The ISPR has not released details about the pilot’s condition.
Shah Bulbul, spokesperson for Milestone School and College, said: “The plane hit the school gate and crashed nearby. Classes were in progress at the time, and students were present in the classrooms. Injured students are being rescued one by one.”
