A mentally unstable youth has allegedly murdered his mother in Kishoreganj’s Tarail.
The incident took place on Friday midnight at Purura village under Rauti Union of Tarail upazila.
The deceased, Ashila Begum (70), Wife of late Shamsu Miah in Purura village of Tarail Upazila.
Among her four sons, the youngest, Jasim Uddin ( 28), was mentally unstable. He was kept inside the house with his feet chained for about 5-6 years.
Police and local sources said, Jasim was chained to the bed as before on Friday midnight . After dinner, Ashila Begum and Jasim fell asleep in the same room.
At around 11:30 pm, a family member who was in another room saw the door of the room open and went inside to see that Jasim’s leg chains were untied, but he was not in the room.
At the same time, Ashila Begum’s body was found lying motionless.
Received on information , Police reached the spot and recovered the body, It is believed that the deceased was strangled to death as there were injury marks on his neck.
Officer in Charge (OC, investigation) of Tarail Police Station, Shyamal Miah confirmed the incident, and also said that initially it is believed that the mentally unstable boy Jasim Uddin strangled his mother and fled.
The body has been sent to mourge for an autopsy.
