Mehazabien’s ‘Saba’ at Australian Film Festival
Entertainment Report :
Last year, Mehazabien Chowdhury’s film Saba premiered at the Toronto Film Festival. Since then, the film has been making rounds at various international festivals. After being screened at more than ten festivals, Saba has now been selected for the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne in Australia. The film is scheduled to be screened on August 17.
Saba is directed by Maksud Hossain. The story revolves around Saba, a young woman from a middle-class urban family. Her father has passed away, and her mother, Shirin, is bedridden after a road accident. Saba is the only support for the family. Due to her responsibilities and financial struggles, she hasn’t been able to focus on building her own career. She works tirelessly, day and night, trying to nurse her mother back to health. Suddenly, Shirin suffers a heart attack, and Saba is devastated. How will she save her mother?
This emotional story forms the core of the film, with Mehazabien Chowdhury playing the title role.
Although Mehazabien made her big-screen debut last year with Priyo Maloti, Saba is the first film she acted in. Mehazabien said, “It’s wonderful news that Saba will be screened at the Australian film festival. I hope the film will be well received by the audience there.”
