Chief Justice of Bangladesh Supreme court, Dr. Syed Refat Ahmed has called on the media to continue playing a responsible role and providing effective support in the ongoing reform of Bangladesh’s judiciary and in ensuring justice for all.
He made the remarks on Monday (June 2) while unveiling Projonmo 24, the annual publication of the Law Reporters Forum (LRF), an organization of journalists covering legal, judicial, and human rights issues. The event was held at the Chief Justice’s office.
“We are working tirelessly for structural reform of the judiciary. The media has been playing a constructive role in this journey, and I hope this support will continue,” the Chief Justice said after the unveiling ceremony.
He praised ‘ Projonmo 24 ” as a timely and thoughtful initiative and expressed appreciation for the journalists’ efforts in presenting judicial issues to the public with clarity and depth.
Sharing insights on the reform process, he mentioned that, “During divisional visits, I have already shared key reform ideas with the media. More details will be disclosed on June 22.”
The Chief Justice also agreed with a proposal to honor outstanding journalistic work on justice, judiciary, and human rights.
He suggested selecting one top reporter each from Bangla dailies, English dailies, and television for an award, encouraging quality reporting on these critical issues.
He further stressed the importance of a united and constructive role by the media and assured full cooperation from the judiciary in this regard.
Present at the event were Registrar of the Appellate Division Md. Hasanuzzaman, Supreme Court Special Officer Moazzem Hossain, and the Chief Justice’s Private Secretary Shariful Alam Bhuiyan.
From the Law Reporters Forum, Acting President Hasan Javed,( Special correspondent, NTV), General Secretary Moniruzzaman Mission(senior reporter, Daily new Age ,former General Secretary Ahmed Sarwar Hossain Bhuiyan, Joint Secretary Alomgir Mia, and Organizational Secretary S. M. Nur Mohammad were among the attendees, along with senior reporters from major national newspapers and electronic media outlets.
