Primary and Mass Education Adviser Professor Dr. Bidhan Ranjan Roy Podder has emphasized that media professionals, alongside administrators and teachers, can play a crucial role in improving the quality of primary education.
He made the remarks yesterday while speaking as the chief guest at a discussion with government primary school head teachers and officials in Kishoreganj district, focusing on strategies to enhance primary education, according to a PID release.
Highlighting the media’s importance as part of the education community, Prof. Bidhan said, “We often rely on journalists to reveal challenges faced by schools. Their accurate reporting allows us to take timely and effective action.”
He added that instilling moral education in students helps shape them into responsible citizens, noting that stories and literature are effective tools for teaching values.
Prof. Bidhan further stressed that children should be nurtured with unity, empathy, and discipline, and that the school environment plays a vital role, as students learn by observing their teachers’ example. He urged teachers to serve as role models for their students.
The adviser also highlighted the significance of co-curricular activities alongside textbooks for the overall development of children.
Primary and Mass Education Secretary Abu Taher Md. Masud Rana, Directorate General of Primary Education Abu Noor Md. Shamsuzzaman, and Director Mohammad Kamrul Hasan attended the event, which was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Kishoreganj Mizabe Rahmat.
