Md Mahmudul Hasan, NDC, has officially assumed the role of administrator for the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) on Tuesday morning.
During a press briefing at the DNCC Nagar Bhaban in Gulshan on Tuesday afternoon the newly appointed administrator announced his commitment to maintaining continuous service delivery, reports media.
He is a senior secretary of the government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and, upon taking office, convened a meeting with DNCC’s departmental heads and other senior officials to discuss the corporation’s overall operations.
In his remarks to the media, Md Mahmudul Hasan said: “The interim government has been formed through a popular uprising. We will prioritize fulfilling the expectations of the current government and the public. DNCC is a service-oriented institution, and we will take steps to enhance the scope of our services according to public expectations.”
Hasan also sought public cooperation in the administration of DNCC’s activities.
He emphasized that mosquito control efforts would be intensified to combat dengue, which tends to surge during the monsoon season. “We will enhance our mosquito control operations, clear canal debris, and ensure the canals’ natural flow is maintained. Birth and death registration, along with other routine services, will continue uninterrupted.”
In response to a journalist’s question regarding the roles of DNCC’s councilors, Hasan mentioned that the government’s decision on this matter is still pending.
The final decision on the councilors’ duties will be determined according to government directives.
Addressing another query, he assured that all financial and administrative activities of government institutions are subject to regular audits.
He affirmed that any irregularities or corruption will be investigated and dealt with according to the regulations.
