MCC mayor assures promises to be implemented

Newly-elected Mayor of Mymensingh City Corporation (MCC) Md. Ekramul Haque Titu said we have made many promises to the people; people have high expectations from us. Efforts should be made to implement those promises.
He said that it is not possible to change everything overnight in the current socio-economic situation, but it is important to try with all our ability and we must take care that our behavior should be towards public welfare at all times. The mayor said this in the chairman’s speech of the newly elected mayor and councilors of Mymensingh City Corporation with the officers and employees of the city corporation at Shaheed Shahbuddin auditorium today at 11:30 am.
In his speech he expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister for gifting the Mymensingh a city corporation and to its citizens for re-electing him as the Mayor.
Besides, in his speech, he gave instructions on various issues including traffic congestion, waterlogging, cleanliness, increase in citizen services, redressal of citizen complaints, and de-occupation of sidewalks.
He said, Mymensingh is an old and densely populated city. Keeping these things in mind, we should try to solve the problem. Illegal markets on roadsides, mobile markets should be stopped, leaving designated areas and houses should be ensured. Besides, road widening works should be taken forward. Mayor emphasized on increasing public awareness to make waste management sustainable.
He directed the Chief Waste Management Officer to conduct awareness campaigns every month in each ward.
The mayor also said that the cooperation of the citizens is also needed to eradicate mosquitoes and keep the canal free of encroachment and clean. Mayor Md. Ekramul Haque Titu stressed on the use of information technology in providing services to citizens, strengthening administrative decentralization activities, proper implementation of social security programs, etc. He said to the officers and employees that disciplinary action will be taken if laxity is seen in redressal of civil complaints and reduction of public suffering.
The chief executive officer, councilor and officers-employees spoke in the meeting. At the end of the meeting, prayers were offered for the death of Councilor Md. Farooq Hasan of Ward No. 8 of the present Council and Councilors of the defunct Mymensingh Municipality, Md. Liaquat Ali and Lal Mia Laltu.
Chief Executive Officer of Mymensingh City Corporation Md Yusuf Ali, councilors of reserved and general constituencies, secretary of the corporation Md. Arifur Rahman, chief engineer Md. Rafiqul Islam Mia and other department and branch heads, regional executive officers, print and electronic media journalists were present in the meeting.
