Chattagram Bureau :
Chattagram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain inspected the city’s roads and drains damaged in monsoon on Wednesday (30 July).
He observed the current condition of roads, drainage and related infrastructure from Pradhan Nagar Bhaban, Batali Hill, Tiger Pass, Chattagram to Bahaddarhat, Chawkbazar, Kapasgola, Farida Para.
During the inspection, when a resident of a five-story building in Farida Para threw dirt into the drain from the window, the mayor himself immediately called the building owner on his mobile phone and warned him that if such activities were done in the future, he would be punished by the magistrate.
He said, I have seen various roads of the city damaged in monsoon on the spot along with the engineers of the Chattagram City Corporation (CCC). After seeing the site, it seems that several drains in the city were built in an unplanned manner in the past.
Due to which the rainwater is not being drained properly. During the rainy season, we will keep our plan drains clean in a continuous process.
Therefore, the work of drain renovation will continue for these three months. And the work of canal renovation is ongoing. “We have already met with all the service providers of the city on Tuesday regarding the waterlogging.
We are working in a coordinated manner. We are in a continuous monitoring. We will continue to repair the roads that have become potholes due to heavy rains.
There is a factor of tidal water here. That is why we have told the Water Development Board to control the Swiss gates and make arrangements for pumping houses. Another thing is that I have instructed them not to cut our WASA at various places.
