Matribhumi Heart Care organised rally on World Heart Day

On the occasion of World Heart Day 2024, public health experts and heart specialists highlighted the issues of Hypertension and Cardiovascular Disease Risk from a rally and human chain in front of the National Press Club on Sunday, organized by Matribhumi Heart Care. This year’s theme for the day is “Use Heart for Action.”

ABM Hanif Master, Chairman of the organization presided over the event while Dr. MM Rahman, CEO of the heart care center gave important speech on the occasion.

Matribhumi heart care Managing Director Engineer Md. Main Uddin, its officials Bappi Sarder, Jahirul Islam and Abdullah Al Mamun, among others, were present.

It was informed at the programme that one in every four adults in Bangladesh is suffering from hypertension.

According to the first Global Report on Hypertension 2023 by the World Health Organization (WHO), 273,000 people die of cardiovascular diseases every year in Bangladesh and 54 percent of these fatalities are attributable to hypertension.

The report also revealed that half of the individuals with hypertension are not even aware of their condition.
