Dhaka Metropolitan Police Additional Police Commissioner (DB Chief) Harun Or Rashid announced that an investigation is underway to determine who shared information about the murder of Jhenaidah-4 Constituency Member of Parliament, Anwarul Azim Anar, and who financially benefited from it.
Speaking at the DB office on Minto Road in the capital on Tuesday afternoon, DB Chief Harun stated that those involved in the killing mission are being investigated for sharing the picture of slain MP Anar from Kolkata via WhatsApp and whether there was any financial involvement. When asked whether Tk 2 crore was traded after the murder, he said, “We have also heard this, and we are investigating the matter very carefully.”
Meanwhile, the Detective Branch (DB) of DMP has seized two cars from the garage of Aktaruzzaman Shahin, the mastermind behind the murder of MP Anwarul Azim Anar. The vehicles, a white Prado and a white microbus, were seized from Shahin’s Gulshan residence in the capital.
Investigation sources revealed that a DB team conducted a raid at Shahin’s Gulshan residence on Saturday and seized the cars. It was learned that Shahin typically uses these two cars when he visits Dhaka from the US.
Accused Siam, an assistant to mastermind Aktaruzzaman Shahin, has been arrested in Nepal and is currently under Kolkata police custody. Another accused, Jihad, has been arrested in India. During questioning, Siam stated that he worked under Shahin with a salary of Tk 60,000. Following Shahin’s direction, he brought Jihad to Kolkata from Mumbai.
