Gulshan Cricket Club recorded a massive 107 runs victory over Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited in their first match of the Dhaka Premier League (DPL) Cricket at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan (BKSP) Ground-3 in Savar on Monday.
Sent into bat first, Gulshan Cricket Club piled up a mammoth total of 298 for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs and then all out Dhaka Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited for 191 runs off 40.2 overs.
Gulshan Cricket Club lost their early two wickets for 34 runs.
Opener Zawad Abrar and second-down Iftakhar Hossain salvaged their team from debacle contributing together 83 runs in the third wicket stand before Zawad Abrar was dismissed by Saif Uddin when Gulshan’s total was 117 for the loss of three wickets.
Zawad Abrar notched up a marvelous 75. His 86-ball innings was decorated with five sixes and four fours.
After Zawad’s departure, Iftakhar Hossain and Habibur Sheikh built a worthy partnership. They contributed together 94 runs in the fourth wicket stand before Habibur Sheikh was dismissed by Abu Hider when Gulshan’s score was 211 for the loss of four wickets.
Iftakhar Hossain hit a terrific 108. His 110-ball innings was studded with three sixes and nine fours. Habibur Sheikh made 47 from 53 deliveries featuring five fours.
After Habibur’s departure, Iftakhar and Shakil Hossain added together 32 runs in the fifth wicket stand before Shakil Hossain (12) was trapped leg before wicket by Ebadot Hossain when Gulshan’s total was 243 for the loss of five wickets.
