Mass people contemplate over budget

The Bangladesh government has set out a Tk 7.9 trillion budget for the 2025-26 fiscal year as Finance Advisor Salehuddin Ahmed announced the draft of the budget in a speech on Monday.
People from every walk of life have expressed their reaction over the announced budget where they are trying to find out what is remained for them in the budget.

The New Nation has tried to talk with the people from lower income group as what they are thinking about the budget or is the budget meets their expectation.

A group of day labourer people have gathered in front of RAB-10 office located at KillarMor of capital Lalbagh area on Monday as they are used to congregate at that place hoping to sell their labour.

When asked about budget, Kashem Sheikh, a middle age man has expressed his reaction over the budget acknowledge that he knows about it.

Sheikh said it is the matter of rich people, politicians, business men, traders and service holders. We think about only for selling our labour. Our level of thinking only to price hike or reduce of rice, oil, salt, onion, garlic etc.

Besides, I have heard that usually budget have announced to provided facilities of wealthy people, big businessmen, traders and government officials where nothing is remain for poor, he added.
Another man, BacchuMondal, from the group has expressed eager to talk with the reporter and said,our only expectation is to keep the daily commodities price in cheap and in our capacity to buy as we can continue our daily life.

Mondal said, we are not that much educated to criticize the budget as it the matter of highly educated people issue. We believe that the government will do something for poor people.

Amirul Islam Babu, a vegetable vendor at New Market has expressed disappointment over the budget saying that budget is tolls for killing the poor people rather safeguard the rich people.
Amirul said no one think about poor welfare, their all effort to protect the government officials, big businessmen, industrialist and politician interest.

He also blamed the interim government for nothing to do for low income group people as they have already passed nine months.

A Leguna driver, Sabuj Mia has expressed his thinking over the budget as he said what the government will do where there are a lot of problems. Our businessmen, government officials, traders and politicians are corrupted. Government is always tried to do best for all kind of people, but the dishonest people destroy good initiatives, he added.
