Md. Shahabuddin, son of the late Md. Motaleb of Dhamganj village in
Enayetnagar Union under Fatullah upazila, works as a cleaner in
Narayanganj town, barely managing to support his family. He has three
daughters and one son, the youngest being his only boy. His eldest
daughter, 19-year-old Mosammat Khuki, is set to be married on 29
August.
As part of the wedding arrangements, the groom’s side is expected to
bring 50 guests who need to be hosted. But for this low-income cleaner,
bearing such expenses was impossible. In desperation, he approached
Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Zahidul Islam Mia, who is
widely known across the country as a compassionate and humane
administrator.
After verifying his application, the DC called Shahabuddin to his office
today and handed him a financial assistance cheque. Expressing
gratitude upon receiving the support, Shahabuddin said, *“I am just a
sweeper. But when I entered the DC Sir’s office, before I could even
greet him, he himself greeted me and inquired about my well-being. His
manner touched my heart deeply.”
