Staff Reporter :
In a shocking incident, a man was allegedly abducted in broad daylight in the Motijheel area of the capital on Sunday noon, reportedly due to a land dispute.

Police sources indicate that the abduction stems from a long-standing conflict between two individuals, Mohiuddin, a real estate businessman, and Md Raju, over a piece of land located behind Bangladesh Bank.

Surveillance footage from several CCTV cameras captured the incident.

One clip shows a group of individuals arriving in a white car and assaulting a man standing by the roadside before forcibly dragging him into the vehicle. Another person brandishing a pistol is also seen running after the car.

Officer-in-Charge Abul Kalam Azad of Motijheel police station informed the media that the abduction occurred amidst ongoing construction on the disputed land. Rival factions reportedly fired blank shots to halt the construction.

“We initially learned that the pistol from which shots were fired is licensed to Md Raju, and we are currently investigating further details,” stated OC Azad.

Police have detained one suspect who is currently undergoing interrogation as part of the ongoing investigation into the abduction.
