Malek new chair, Jasim, Happy vice chair of Barishal Sadar upazila

Voting was held in two upazilas of Barishal district from 8 am to 4 pm on Wednesday (May 8). Barisal District Senior Election Officer Ohiduzzaman Munshi said that voting was conducted in a fair and peaceful environment without any untoward incident at the polling station.
In Barishal Sadar Upazila, 36 percent of votes have been cast. Abdul Malek, a retired teacher who contested with cup-plate symbol, was unofficially elected as the chairman in BarishalSadar Upazila.
In Bakerganj upazila Parishad election Rajiv Ahmed Talukder was unofficially elected as chairman. Rajiv is the co-editor of the Central Committee of the Jubo League. His mother Parveen Talukder was a reserved Member of Parliament of Awami League. Besides, Abdus Salam was elected as male vice chairman and Jahanara Begum as female vice chairman of the upazila.
