Malaysian “Multiple Entry Visas” for BD workers issued
City Desk :
The Malaysian government has decided to replace the single-entry visas previously issued to Bangladeshi migrant workers with multiple-entry visas, easing travel restrictions for thousands of expatriates. This change ensures Bangladeshi workers can now travel back and forth between Malaysia and Bangladesh more conveniently.
The announcement came after continuous diplomatic efforts, including a meeting last month between a Bangladeshi delegation led by Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul and Malaysia’s Home Minister, reports DO. Malaysia’s Director-General of Immigration issued a letter on July 10, 2025, formalizing the upgrade from single to multiple-entry visas for Bangladeshi workers.
Workers holding valid single-entry visas and Temporary Employment Visit Passes (PLKS) do not need to reapply; their visas will automatically convert to multiple-entry upon PLKS renewal. Malaysian authorities have also instructed all international airports and land ports to allow Bangladeshi workers to exit and re-enter Malaysia without requiring a new visa.
This move addresses a long-standing issue, as Bangladeshi workers were the only group among Malaysia’s 15 source countries restricted to single-entry visas, often causing hardships during family emergencies and urgent travels. The change is expected to strengthen labor relations and improve the welfare of Bangladeshi migrant workers in Malaysia.
