The Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Mohd Shuhada Bin Osman, noted that a significant number of medical tourists from Bangladesh are seeking treatment abroad. He suggested that Malaysia, with its advanced and modern healthcare facilities, could become a preferred destination for these travelers.

The High Commissioner made these remarks during a meeting with business leaders from the Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Monday afternoon. The event was held at the Conference Hall of the World Trade Center in Agrabad and was chaired by Chamber Administrator and Additional Divisional Commissioner Mohammad Nurullah Noori.

Mohd Shuhada Bin Osman also highlighted the importance of the five agreements signed during Dr. Muhammad Yunus’s visit to Malaysia last August, stressing their role in strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries. He further emphasized Bangladesh’s potential to earn foreign exchange by producing and exporting halal products certified with proper halal accreditation.

In addition, he pointed out investment opportunities in Chattogram’s telecommunications, security, healthcare, manufacturing, and energy sectors, owing to the city’s strategic location.

Chamber Administrator Nurullah Noori underlined the longstanding friendly relations between Bangladesh and Malaysia, both Muslim-majority nations. Other speakers emphasized the importance of regular trade delegation visits to further strengthen business ties between the two countries.

Insights were also shared by former Chattogram Chamber President and Honorary Consul of Thailand Amir Humayun Mahmud Chowdhury; former Senior Vice President M. A. Salam; Honorary Consul of Malaysia Mohammad Akhter Parvez; and former Chamber Director Zahirul Islam Chowdhury Alamgir.
