The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation in Dhaka will be held at 8:30 AM at the National Eidgah. However, if the weather is unfavourable, the prayer will be moved to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9:00 AM.
A press release from the Ministry of Religious Affairs on Saturday confirmed that any changes to the Eid prayer schedule will be widely broadcast on electronic media.
The Ministry has also instructed Dhaka South City Corporation, the Press Information Department (PID), Bangladesh Television, and Bangladesh Betar to ensure the Eid congregation schedules at major mosques in Dhaka and key districts are shared through mass media.
A special committee, headed by the Dhaka Divisional Commissioner, and comprising representatives from the Cabinet Division, Islamic Foundation, SSF, DMP, Meteorological Department, SPARSO, and the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, will be responsible for making the immediate decision to shift the venue due to bad weather.
Additionally, five Eid jamaats will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Eid-ul-Fitr. The schedule is as follows: First jamaat: 7:00 AM, Second jamaat: 8:00 AM, Third jamaat: 9:00 AM, Fourth jamaat: 10:00 AM and Fifth jamaat: 10:45 AM.
The Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque, Hafez Mufti Maulana Muhibbullahil Baki, will lead the first congregation, while Hafez Mufti Maulana Mizanur Rahman will lead the second. Dr Maulana Mufti Waliur Rahman Khan will lead the third jamaat, followed by Dr Mushtaq Ahmed for the fourth. The fifth congregation will be led by Mufti Md Abdullah.
If any imam is unable to lead the prayer, Islamic Foundation Deputy Director Maulana Md Jakir Hossain will take charge.
The Islamic Foundation and district administrations will also share the Eid prayer schedules with major media outlets, including Bangladesh Betar and Bangladesh Television, before Eid day.
Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest religious festival for Muslims, will be observed on March 31 or April 1, depending on the moon sighting.
In addition, Eid jamaats at Old Dhaka’s Miah Shaheber Maydan Khankah Sharif in Luxmibazar will be held at 7:00 AM, and at Luxmibazar Nurani Jam-e-Masjid at 8:00 AM. Eid congregations at Sat Rawza Khankah e Abul Ulaiya (Bargah e Sohailiya) in Old Dhaka will take place at 7:00 AM.
