After Friday prayers, Magpie Group MD and Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA) Director Majumder Arifur Rahman, a family member of Begum Khaleda Zia, arrived in Anandapur, Fulgazi, after Friday prayers.
During this special visit to Feni, he participated in several programs. He first visited the grave of martyr Ishtiaq Ahmed Shravan and attended a luncheon in Anandapur, Fulgazi. After that, he went to Chagalnaiya Upazila and paid a courtesy call on Upazila BNP President Nur Ahmed.
Later, he paid a courtesy call on former Prime Minister and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s advisor Professor Joynal Abedin VP at his residence in Feni.
During the meeting, Professor Joynal Abedin VP said, “Arif’s father Nantu Majumdar was my classmate. We studied together and were also side by side in politics. Not only that, Arif’s mother is like my sister.
So I consider Arif a member of my family.”
He also said, “I have made many sacrifices in my long journey in politics. I have sold many assets given to me by my father and grandfather. However, I want to say with pride-Nantu Majumdar was an honest and unselfish person. I hope for the cooperation of Nantu Bhai’s family in the upcoming February parliamentary elections. I will always stand by Arif and his family.”
Local political circles believe that family ties and connections can add a new dimension to Feni politics.
