Listed Singer and music artist of Bangladesh Betar Sylhet Kendra poet Siraj Anwar is no more. He died on Thursday (June 20) at 8 am while undergoing treatment at Northeast Medical College Hospital. At the time of his death, he left behind a son and 3 daughters and a number of well-wishers.
The funeral prayers of the deceased were held at Goalgaon Shahi Eidgah Maidan in South Surma’s Lalabazar Union on Thursday. The funeral was attended by the leaders of various political and social organizations along with his colleagues and people from all walks of life.
Siraj Anwar is the first child of the famous Urdu poet Waris Akhtar Bengali. Following his father’s footsteps, Siraj Anwar involved himself in the cultural arena. Apart from composing music, he became widely known as a singer. As an honest and honorable person, Siraj Anwar’s death has been mourned by his colleagues.
Sylhet Central Writers Forum President Poet Md Aminul Islam, General Secretary Journalist Shafiq Ahmad Shofiee, South Surma Writers Forum President Zahir Uddin Jalal, General Secretary Juned Ahmad have expressed deep grief and sorrow over the death of poet Siraj Anwar, a listed songwriter and music artist of Bangladesh Betar Sylhet Center.
In a condolence message, the leaders prayed for the repose of the departed soul and condoled with the bereaved family.
