Local Government Secretary Visits Dasherkandi, Pagla sewage treatment plants

Secretary of Local Government Division Rezaul Maksud Jahedi visited the Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant on Saturday, where he praised the plant’s operation and maintenance as modern, efficient, and unique in the country.
During the visit, the Secretary emphasized the need for sustainable and innovative use of the 500 million liters of treated water produced daily by the plant. He advised concerned officials to explore the possibility of using this treated water to recharge the underground deep aquifer and to present practical suggestions in this regard.
He also recommended assessing the feasibility of generating thermal power and integrating solar energy into the plant’s operations to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability.
Dhaka WASA Managing Director Md. Fazlur Rahman, along with Deputy Managing Directors, Chief Engineers, and other senior engineers, accompanied the Secretary during the inspection. Executive Engineer Momtazur Rahman briefed the delegation on various aspects of the Dasherkandi project and led a field visit to showcase the plant’s operations.
Earlier that morning, Secretary Zahedi also visited the Pagla Sewage Treatment Plant project site in Pagla, where he reviewed ongoing work and provided guidance to the implementing team.
