Ishwardi (Pabna) Correspondent :

In the month of Falgun, the smell of the mau of the litchi mukul spread to the village of Ishwardi. Hundreds of litchi gardens are covered with yellow in the bulk. But this time, the traditional mukul does not smell. Kachipata has grown. Garden owners, farmers and traders fear the catastrophe due to the low mulch. They say that such a tragic condition of Lichur Mukul has not been seen in the last five decades. Agriculture officials and farmers are blaming the weather for the coming of Mukul. The Department of Agriculture says, there is still time to come to Lichur Mukul. Farmers say time has passed.
Maniknagar, Mirkamari, Charmirkamari, Kadimpara and Aotapara villages are known as ‘Lichu Village’, in hundreds of litchi gardens, new kachipata has grown instead of Mukul. The new leaves do not come to the mulch. Because of this, farmers are skeptical about the production of litchi. Although 22 days have passed on the month of Falgun, the farmers are not attending the garden. Not used for fertilizers, pesticides and pesticides. In the past years, the farmers spend busy time in gardening. This time the gardens in the gardens are silent.
Litchu farmers said that there are 100 litchi trees in the garden, but only 10-20 trees have come. The amount of Mukul is also very low. In the past, such little mukul has not been seen. They do not understand why this year is like this. They think the weather may be a catastrophe this year due to the weather. Litchu farmer Amirul said, “In the last 50 years, I have not seen such a dilapidated state of litchi.” This time we do not understand what will happen to us.
Abdul Jalil Kitab alias Lichu Kitab, a national medalist in Lichu, said, “I have been cultivating Lichur for 45 years.” Such a disaster has never been. This is the situation all over the area. For this, the changing weather has to be blamed. It is doubtful whether Litchu will have a good cultivation in the future in combination with the changing weather. This year, 10 percent of the litchi yield does not seem to be available.
He also said that millions of people are directly and indirectly involved with litchi cultivation. They will face the most danger this time. I think the government should take steps in this regard, so that the yield of litchi can be improved in the changing weather. Otherwise, the litchi cultivation will go to extinction within the next five years.
Deputy Assistant Agriculture Officer Akhlachur Rahman said that Lichuga does not even come equally in the Mukul every year. Sometimes less, sometimes more. But this time the mulch has come to the relatively low trees. May be caused by genetic. Next year, the amount of Mukul will be higher in all trees and will be well yielded. Upazila Agriculture Officer Mita Sarkar said Ishwardi is famous for cultivating litchi in the country. This time, the litchi has been cultivated on 3,100 hectares of land. This year, the tree has come to the tree. However, the amount of mukul is less than the other year. I guess this is because of the hostile weather.
