Sripur (Gazipur) Correspondent :
My father, Md. Ismail Hossain, was not only my biological father he was the embodiment of values, humility, and kindness. He remains the greatest inspiration in my life. On August 12, 2014, he left this world for his eternal abode. His funeral was held that afternoon on the grounds of Kachom Ali National Ideal School in Sripur, Gazipur a school established in my grandfather’s name. He was laid to rest in our family graveyard at Tepirbari village, as light rain gently fell from the sky. It felt as if the heavens themselves were weeping for him. Nearly seven thousand people from all walks of life attended his funeral.
Later, on August 16, his Qulkhwani took place at the same school grounds. Many respected individuals from area came to pay their respects.
My father was a man of simplicity, patience, and unmatched generosity. He gave without expecting anything in return. He loved sincerely-be it his peers, the elderly, or the young. His affection was untainted by anger, pride, or intolerance. No one who came to him for help ever returned empty-handed.
To me, he was not just a father he was a spiritual guide, a moral compass, and a pillar of strength. I saw him closely, understood him deeply. I never heard him speak ill of anyone. He never cursed, never smoked, never idled away time gossiping at tea stalls.
He avoided bad company, never indulged in harmful habits, and treated everyone with respect. In my eyes, he was the greatest father in the world.
The eldest among his brothers, my father was lovingly called “Dada.” He was a natural leader, and everyone in our family and community looked up to him. After passing his matriculation, he briefly served as a primary school teacher before becoming a successful businessman. In his later years, he focused on farming, managing our land with dedication and fairness. Even the workers who labored on our land respected and loved him deeply.
In our village’s social structure, he served as a community leader, remaining in that position until his last breath.
