Two persons were killed on the spot and another sustained severe burn injuries by lightning in two separate places in Dema Union Parishad under Sadar Upazila of Bagerhat district on Wednesday (June 19) when a mild gusty wind accompanied with torrential rain and repeated thunderbolts swept over the Union under Sadar Upzila in Bagerhat district and its adjacent areas and continued for more than long 2 hours. The victims are Selim Shaikh (35), a farmer hailed from Hedayetpur village while he was taking back his cows from a grassy field of the village and Shariful Islam (20) hailed from the village P C Dema while he was catching fish from the adjacent Nalbunia marshy land and the injured person is one Uzzal Hawladar (28) hails from the same village (P C Dema) was catching fish from the same marshy land. He was admitted to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for treatment.
