He made the statement after holding a meeting with Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus on Monday afternoon.
As part of discussions with various political parties, the chief advisor held a meeting with leaders of Jamaat-e-Islami.
Dr Shafiqur Rahman said: “You know that the nation is currently at a turning point. We came here at the invitation of the chief advisor. We discussed what steps should be taken to move the country forward.”
He said: “The country belongs to all of us. If the country is well, we will be well. If we work with a positive attitude and cooperate with each other, and if we support those who are currently in charge, I believe the country will move towards order and prosperity.
“In the meeting, we expressed sympathy and wished for the recovery of those who have been injured. We discussed various good and bad aspects of the country,” he added.
Jamaat-e-Islami was recently banned by the Ministry of Home Affairs under the outgoing Awami League government, labeling them as terrorist organizations.
There has been no public update regarding this decision from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Home Affairs Adviser Brig Gen (retd) M Sakhawat Hossain informed journalists on Monday that the Ministry of Home Affairs will address the issue after receiving an opinion from the Ministry of Law.
