At the Hindu Representatives Conference 2025, held at the auditorium of the Krishibid Institute in Dhaka’s Farmgate area and organized by the Matua Bahujan Samaj Oikyojot, BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir urged attendees to pledge their votes for the BNP’s electoral symbol, the Sheaf of Paddy.
He said,”We want to build that Bangladesh-one that is truly secular, progressive, democratic, and prosperous-by forgetting the bitterness of the past and leaving behind old divisions.”
He then chanted a slogan, “Hindus and Muslims are brothers-vote for the Sheaf of Paddy!”
Conveying the demands of the Matua Bahujan Samaj to Tarique Rahman, the BNP’s acting chairman, Fakhrul said:
“These demands will only be realized when our leader Tarique Rahman becomes the Prime Minister. You must vote for the Sheaf of Paddy. So, are you giving your word today? I want to hear your promise-that you will help establish our leader as the Prime Minister.”
He added that the party’s founder and the Proclaimer of Independence, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, Bir Uttam, had dreamed of such a Bangladesh and had started to build it.
On behalf of the Matua Bahujan Samaj, Mirza Fakhrul read out a set of demands addressed to Tarique Rahman, which included:Ensuring proper representation of minority communities in national life, including nominations and the National Parliament. Additionally, they demanded withdrawal of false or politically motivated cases that have been filed against members of their community.
