After a long wait of 22 years, Ajmal Hossain Sujan, a lecturer in the Mathematics Department at Dasuria Degree College in Ishwardi, has been reinstated in his position.
According to college teachers, Sujan was dismissed in 2003 by the then-college management committee, allegedly for being late to work for nine days. However, sources indicate that his dismissal was the result of a conflict with the former principal. Despite multiple appeals and legal efforts, he was unable to regain his job at the time.
Recently, Sujan submitted an appeal to the current governing body, requesting a fresh investigation. In response, the governing body sought a review from the National University. University officials conducted an on-site investigation and found no fault on Sujan’s part. Following their report, the National University directed the college to reinstate him and instructed the administration to clear his pending salaries and other dues from the past 22 years.
Expressing his relief, Ajmal Hossain Sujan said, “I was unjustly dismissed due to a personal conflict with the former principal. The truth has finally come to light after 22 years. The investigation proved that I had committed no wrongdoing, and as a result, I have been reinstated.”
College Principal Shahidul Islam confirmed, “The National University officially directed his reinstatement, and Ajmal Hossain Sujan has now resumed his duties.”
Habibur Rahman Habib, President of the Governing Body, stated, “Ajmal Hossain Sujan is a skilled mathematics teacher who was unfairly dismissed due to false accusations and misinformation. After a thorough investigation, the National University found no evidence of wrongdoing and issued instructions for his reinstatement.”
Sujan’s return to the college after more than two decades marks the end of a prolonged struggle and a victory for justice.
