The city was still slowly awakening that early morning, yet on the third floor of Barishal’s Shilpakala Academy, the art gallery was alive with a distinct energy. A vibrant group of young participants, aged 16 to 24, gathered with notepads and pens in hand, eyes gleaming with curiosity and determination, driven by a shared ambition: to develop their leadership skills, unlock their latent potential and step confidently into roles of responsibility.
This aspiration is embodied in “Learn to Lead”, a flagship initiative guided by the Lal Sabuj Society.
The full-day leadership development workshop, organized by this social organization, served as a dynamic platform for nurturing a new generation of changemakers. From 9 AM to 5 PM, participants engaged in a thoughtfully structured program of interactive sessions, group discussions, team-based activities, games and experiential learning, creating an atmosphere of energy, collaboration and inspiration.
The initiative is not limited to Barishal alone. Through “Learn to Lead”, Lal Sabuj Society has expanded its reach across Dhaka, Patuakhali, Rangpur and other regions, equipping hundreds of young people with the practical skills, confidence and mindset needed to lead effectively.
The workshop curriculum encompasses essential aspects of leadership: strategic thinking, communication, empathy, conflict resolution, team collaboration and personal responsibility. Participants engage in lectures, role-plays, interactive discussions and team exercises, all designed to translate leadership principles into tangible actions.
Leadership: An Attitude, Not a Title
Every session begins with a reflection on the nature of leadership. Tahsin Uddin, Founder and President of Lal Sabuj Society emphasizes,
“Leadership is not about a position; it is an attitude. True leadership begins with the courage to take responsibility for oneself.”
