A team from the London College of Legal Studies (LCLS) South made Bangladesh proud by reaching the international rounds of the prestigious Asia Cup Moot Court Competition 2024, held at the United Nations University in Tokyo, Japan.

The journey to Tokyo was fraught with challenges. Competing immediately after final exams, the team faced significant hurdles, including the turbulent political climate in Bangladesh during July.

Out of hundreds of participating teams, LCLS South’s team-comprising Parisha Mehezabeen, Raisha Chowdhury, Zarin Sadaf Lopa, and Nusrat Naima Eti-represented Bangladesh on the global stage with outstanding achievement.

Reflecting on the experience, Nusrat Naima Eti shared, “Competing in the Asia Cup Moot was an experience I’ll carry with me for the rest of my mooting career. It wasn’t just about the law, it was about teamwork and pushing past the limits we thought we had.”

Zarin Sadaf Lopa added, “The moment we discovered that we’d been selected to compete in Tokyo, it felt like a dream coming true. Raisha Chowdhury, said that the first five minutes before standing at the podium were nerve-wracking, but it felt like all my worries washed away once I started my speech.”

Parisha Mehezabeen expressed pride in the team’s accomplishment, noting, “Despite the challenges and limited rehearsal time, we stood our ground against some of the best teams in Asia. Special thanks are due to Khaled Hamid Chowdhury for his generous sponsorship, which alleviated logistical concerns, and to Mr. Faran Aaraf, their esteemed coach, whose unwavering support and mentorship were crucial throughout their journey.

Throughout the competition, Mr. Faran Aaraf’s mentorship went beyond conventional coaching. His consistent support included last-minute training sessions and a steadfast commitment to the team’s mental and emotional readiness. Araf said that we carried ourselves with a constant positive mental attitude, which later became contagious within our team.
