Lawyer seeks ACC probe into Aziz’s illegal assets

A lawyer filed a petition with the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) seeking investigation into the alleged illegal acquisition of property by former Army Chief retired General Aziz Ahmed.

Supreme Court lawyer Advocate Salahuddin Reagan submitted the application to the ACC Chairman on Tuesday.
Talking to media people, Reagan said if ACC does not take any initiative, appropriate legal action will be taken in connection with the matter.

On May 21, the US Government imposed sanctions on Aziz and his immediate family members for what it said was his involvement in significant corruption.

It said the actions of Aziz contributed to undermine Bangladesh’s democratic institutions and public faith in public institutions and processes.
