Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque on Thursday said punitive actions will be taken against the elements who will distort history of the country as the government is going to frame a law to this end.
“Enactment of a law keeping the provision of punishment against the quarters who will distort the history of 1971 Liberation War, publish confusing information and speak anything favouring the 71 mass-killers,” he told the House replying to a query of treasury bench member Begum Pinu Khan.
The minister said all governments except the ruling Awami League distorted the real history of Liberation War after the assassination of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on the fateful 15 August in 1975.
Responding to another question of treasury bench member Mosammat Selina Jahan Litar, he said, the present government shows due respect to the war heroines for their outstanding contribution during the 1971 war.
“Necessary steps are being taken to give them state honour with freedom fighters allowance and residences for them,” the minister added.
