A constructive exchange of views on law and order was held with representatives of 28 small ethnic groups residing in the hilly areas of various unions under the initiative of Kulaura Police Station. The meeting took place on Saturday afternoon at Lakshmipur Mission School.

The session was presided over by Md Omar Faruk, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kulaura Police Station, who attended as it the chief guest. He was accompanied by Superintendent of Police (SP) MKH Jahangir Hossain, under whose directives the event was organised.

Speaking at the meeting, the OC said that the district police would take coordinated measures to prevent crime, ensure the safety of citizens, and maintain peace and order in the hilly regions. He stressed that both the Moulvibazar District Police and Kulaura Police Station stand firmly beside citizens from minority communities.

He added that joint cooperation between police and the public is the greatest strength in building a non-discriminatory, safe, and peaceful society. Ensuring strict punishment for those who destroy crops-including the destruction occurring inside punjis (indigenous settlements)-would help create a peaceful environment and guarantee the security of indigenous people. He also assured that legal support would be provided whenever needed.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of peaceful coexistence, mutual cooperation, and maintaining good relations between small ethnic groups and neighbouring Bengali communities.
Representatives of the ethnic groups shared their ongoing problems, challenges, and possible solutions. OC Omar Faruk listened to their concerns and provided guidance on resolving the issues.
