A launch has capsized in Patukhali’s Lohaliya River on Monday with over 100 passengers on board. Patuakhali river port’s Deputy Director Badrul Alam said that the launch sank after being hit by another Dhaka-bound vessel, ‘Anchal-2’, around 6pm. The sunken vessel was going towards the Patuakhali district headquarters from Rangabali. “The staff of ‘Anchal’ has already started rescue operations. Authorities have rushed to the spot soon after being informed,” said Alam.
