Those who are interested in working in the cultural arena, from a young age, always keep themselves busy with dancing, singing, reciting, and presenting.
However, since young children do not understand so much from that young age, their parents should continue to do their best to keep their children involved in these things.
This was especially happened in the childhood of this generation’s beloved musician, dancer, and presenter, Yesmin Labonno.
When Labonno went to study with music teachers, her teachers said, “No matter what, hold on to the song, don’t let go.” Similarly, when she went to take dance lessons, Labonno had to hear the same thing.
Labonno’s mother has always been by her side, giving her courage and inspiration. And because she loved Labonno so much, Labonno was able to keep herself involved in dancing, singing, and presenting.
Labonno is the only artiste in our country’s media who has managed to both singing and dancing. She is also a regular presenter.
However, Labonno, who wants to focus on singing a little more, had planned to do so in 2024. But even if not that year, she has a desire to do some good original songs this year, i.e. in 2025.
The last original song released in Labonno’s voice was ‘Chaina Hridoy Bhenge Jak’. The song was written and composed by Ovi Moinuddin.
Labonno works as a senior dancer at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy.
She has been working in the Shilpakala Academy since 2015. She has to work in the office from morning to afternoon every day.
Labonno has to perform at various festivals, especially dance events, which is why she has to take out enough time for singing.
Labonno is also a regular presenter of the current programme ‘Ranga Sokal’, broadcast by Maasranga TV. She has to give enough time there too.
Labonno told this correspondent, “I feel more comfortable singing. However, I’m not finding songs that I like, so I’m not singing. I want to leave behind some signature songs that will remind me of myself even if I’m not there. Along with this, I also want to continue dancing regularly.”
Labonno holds an honours degree in English Literature from East West University and a master’s degree in Music from University
of Alternative Development (UODA). She secured first class first position in the master’s examinations.
After completing an 8-year course on dance from the Bulbul Lalitakala Academy (BAFA), Labonno has been taking Bharatanatyam dance training at the Srishti Cultural Centre since 2012.
It’s not just by singing modern songs that she has gained popularity.
Labonno has also provided playback vocals in several films. Among which, the popular song sung by her are: ‘Jotsna Pore Gole Gole, Ghumay Baluchar’.
This song is from Shamiul Islam Shamim’s movie ‘Amar Prem Amar Priya’ starring Pori Moni.
Meanwhile, Labonno married Engineer Mohi Khan on Valentine’s Day.
